Two years.
I don't know about you, but to me that's a long time to stick with something. It's had it's ups and downs, but ultimately.... this blog is my baby. Which brings me to the next subject - I'll be taking a break until March 1st. I've been encouraged to take a break by lots of fabulous people, and really... I think it'll be the best thing for me. You remember that post about managing reading and blogging? Yeah, I don't really have time for that. So maybe, by taking a break... I'll get a head start on it. Maybe it'll help to straighten things out, and maybe then it'll be easy again.
SO. STOP BEING DEPRESSING, MEGAN.
It's time to PAAARRRTTTAAAAAYYY!
Just kidding. But there is a giveaway.
Most of this is going to be my sad and nostalgic rambling.
This was the first year - the first year that I really felt like I could call myself an "average" blogger. I'm sure I'll never be a big blogger or anything (and yes, that's kind of sad), but I finally feel like I can call this little space in the internet mine. IT'S ALL MINE. FOREVER.
This is also the first year that I've had my design professionally done. It's gorgeous, y'all! And thankfully, I'm still in love with it - I love my truck, and my stars... and I can honestly say that I don't think there's another blog out there that looks like mine. And I'm proud of this little design. Thanks goes to Katie from [KD Designs] for making it!
And it's also the first year that I've participated in a buddy read with a hashtag. That may seem like a small thing, but really, it was so much fun! The #PercyPowWow changes lives, yo. I'm so happy that Becca @ Pivot Book Review took some time to do it with me!
AGAIN, it was the first year for something else new - Sarah @ Book-A-Holic and I tried to host our own reading challenge, via The Raven Readers. Needless to say, we were the only participators. But we had fun!
I've joined two blogs as a collaborator this past year, and I've made lots of new friends - like Nitzan from Drugs Called Books, Mishma from As The Page Turns, and Stephanie from Bookfever, who's blogs are all amazing - and I seriously wish I commented more often. I've been bad about comments lately.
Last, but not least - this is the year of 100, 000 page views. That is no small number... and seriously? Woot, woot!
BUT WHAT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR... THE GIVEAWAY!
*Giveaway*
This giveaway is international, and is for TWO PREORDERS - each winner will win one! DID YOU HEAR THAT? TWO WINNERS! Enter up, y'all!
Oh... you maybe want to look at some choices? Okay...
YOU ASKED FOR IT.
That's just SOME of the books that are coming out soon! I mean... look at their beauties! (Obviously, if you don't *GASP* want one of these, you can pick any other book under $20 from the Book Depository. Enter up, beauties!)
And here's a little about The Pearl, which I personally think sounds amazing!
How do gods come to be? Why are dragons good for some and menacing for others? Where do the different races of men come from? Why does evil even exist? The Pearl introduces us to the fascinating world of Elearah Chronicles, a place where ancient myths are alive, where these questions find answers in their own way. Travel with Balian the bard, Elearah the Pearl bearer, and Mika their guide, as they move through Huo, the land of the fire race. Witness with them the return of the Golden Dragon, and follow them as they clash with the servants of the Snake. And who is Pearl? Ah, that´s a good question, a very good question indeed...
a Rafflecopter giveaway
So, that's that! I'll be seeing you again on March the 1st!
Happy second blogoversary, Megan! *party time*
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see who's going to win the bookmark. I've already set it aside for this giveaway. :D
Hope you have a good break. We all need one of those sometimes!
xoxo
Wow happy 2 years! I definitely understand the need to take a break every now and then. I hope you enjoy your time off and come back strong ;)
ReplyDeleteI think that is the most important part about reading a book - connecting to the characters. Too bad this book didn't deliver that.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a huge milestone! Congrats girl!
ReplyDeleteHappy second blogoversary :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good break and enjoy in reading :)
HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY TWO DAYS EARLY MAGS!
ReplyDeleteLOL I love you <3 Amazing year you head there, girly! (Talking about you meeting me, of course. LOL joke. I got giddy seeing my name there, though xD I'm a geek.)
Your blog is wonderful, Mags. All yours, and actually not small at all! :O
When you say 'it's time to party'.... you don't mean the party last week where kids snorted ADHD medicine in attempt to get high, right?... cause I don't approve!
OHH PRETTY BOOKS *STARES..... STILL STARES..... STARES SOME MORE.... MUM CALLS CAUSE WE NEED TO GO BUT STARING IS BETTER.... FINALLY GOES--NOPE, STILL STARING*
LOL I'm so sad you won't be here :( But considering it's a step I took myself just last month, totally understand. Don't you dare disappear on Twitter, though, and #KarouOn is on!!
HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY MEG!!!!!
ReplyDelete2 years is a long ass time and it's amazing you stuck around that long without a break. If anyone deserves it, you do.
AS LONG AS YOU DON'T COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR I WON'T MIND :P
And 100,000 is GREAT! Congrats! :)
Hear is to another great year!!!!
CONGRATS GIRL!! :D This is truly a huge step in the blogging world! :)
ReplyDeleteBoth books were SO AMAZING, I agree! I can't wait to see where this series is going. Thanks! It's one of my favorites. :)
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BLOGOVERSARY TO ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLOGGING BUDDIES IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!! :) I'm very flattered to have been a part of both of our's first buddy read w/ a hashtag and to be mentioned in this post??? That made me just a teensy weensy bit teary eyed! #PercyPowWow will live on forever in my memories, fo sho! I love your design too! The trucks are so cute and unique, and I absolutely adore it! Although I am very sad that you are going on hiatus until March, and I will miss you very very much, I understand what it's like to want and need a break!! Think of all the time you will have to get your read on! I'm not ashamed to admit that I may have pet my computer screen a few times while looking at all the pretty book covers that you have up for your giveaway either!! AND THE YEAR OF 100,000 page views! WOWZA!!! You have had a great two years, Meg, and here's to many more!! *CHEERS* and Congratulations! <333333333
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy book blitzes and cover reveals, but I love the more personal reviews, where the blogger tells me how they felt when reading, and everything that did and didn't work for them in a book :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, Megan.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
It's really too bad you couldn't connect to the mc! Usually, when that happens, the book is not going to work for you. At least that's how I feel.
ReplyDeleteI admit the premise sounds real good--though I'm not sure how I feel about the problem on top pf problem on top of problem the synopsis promises--and that you've mentioned, with the many plot twists. Sometimes, too much drama is... too much drama.
Gah, I dunno. I don't think this book would've ever made it into my radar if not for this review, and now I'm thinking too hard on do I want to read it or not xD
Happy Blogoversary Meg!
ReplyDeleteIt feels good to know that you find my blog amazing:)
I am going to miss you a lot until March. But I can understand your situation.Get back in track soon.
Great giveaway by the way Meg.Silver Shadows alone was enough to tempt me:)
Happy Blogoversary!
ReplyDeleteTwo years, wow this is a long time! I don't even have 2 months of blogging wish me the same lucky haha I only entered a few times here but I liked your reviews a lot, good hiatus and come back rocking it! :)
And what and AMAZING giveaway you got yourself! Already entered and my fingers are crossed.
Happy official bloggoversary! I hope I make it that far, too. :) I hope your hiatus is filled with wonderful books and lots of lovely things you've been wanting to do. :) See you in March!
ReplyDeleteNOOOOO, I'm so sad to hear you'll be gone for more than a month! But happy 2 year blogoversary all the same! I look forward to you coming back, so don't be a stranger and let me know when you're back! I'll miss you! <3
ReplyDeleteI agree - I'm very particular about the characters that I like, and connecting with them. If I don't connect with a character, I just don't connect with the book. I'm sorry too - but I'm probably the only one! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI know! Characters are my entire reason for reading, usually! That's how I feel too - we're alike like that. We gotta have connections, LOL!
ReplyDeleteIn this situation, the drama was all very plausible. It all fits together, but I'm just not very into drama, unfortunately. Sometimes, but not this time, you know?
Hahah, well... you should give it a shot, if you'd like to! As talked about before... we like a lot of different books, LOL.
Happy Blogoversary! :D I'm hoping to make it past 2 years as well... in November! :D
ReplyDeleteI did pass one though. And 100K views. Ciao until next month!
Happy Blogoversary! I'm sad to hear that you'll be taking a break and I'll be counting down the days until March. I hope you have a great break!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary Megan! Honestly, I just saw your blog and I fell in love with it! The theme is clearly original and it's amazing! Continue blogging, please. I'm hoping to hear more from you. If I'll win, I'd choose Promise Bound by Anne Greenwood Brown.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary and I am looking forward to you coming back!
ReplyDeleteOopsie, just now seeing this comment *fail*
ReplyDeleteWe alike in a lot of things! Maybe our tastes are not 100% the same, but still :3
I'm not very into drama either. I mean, no good book can have no drama at all, but at a certain point I just roll my eyes at everything.
Happy Blogoversary and thank you for this amazing giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteAww, you're so sweet, Ali! I'm back now! ;)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, it's totally okay! And our tastes are definitely not EXACTLY the same... but what fun would that be? I mean, really. LOL. Then we wouldn't be able to argue. Haha, me too. :P
ReplyDeleteYou're right, if they were the same we'd have no conversations.
ReplyDeleteMags: I LOVED this book!
Me: Me too!
*end of conversation*
LOL
See, at some things we're alike ;)
How are you, by the way, deary? I hope you're not working *too* hard :(
Haha, we still do that some times, I've noticed. Like, with Angelfall - we had such similar opinions that it wasn't even worth discussing. We've got to find a book that we disagree on, so we can have another chance at discussing!
ReplyDeleteI'm okay, I guess. *answers comment 14 days later*
TRUE! And not just disagree on - not just an indifferent type of disagree - just two opposing opinions! That'll be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteLOL, you're doing good - *ANSWERS COMMENT 3 MONTHS LATER*
