Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up.
It's the two of them, jumbled up and broken apart into confused pieces, and not really understanding, themselves, what they were doing.

To be completely honest with y'all, I've been sitting here and staring at the computer for about ten minutes. I literally have no inkling of what I want to say at all.

Tiger Lily was... I loved it. It took a bit of getting used to, because it was told from Tinker Bell's point of view, but it was about Tiger Lily. Like I said, it took some getting used to - but I really think that it was a unique and interesting way to go about it. I loved the writing, it was very descriptive and... I don't know. Flowing.

I enjoyed the character of Tiger Lily - I didn't really get to connect with her, because of the point of view, but I feel like she was a good character. She was very brave, but I feel like her mind is a dark and sad place. But that's okay. She really was pretty dang complex, and I was intrigued by her.

Undoubtedly, my absolute favorite part of Tiger Lily was the atmosphere. Neverland truly is a dark and dangerous place, with many villains that made it very interesting. It was so twisting and cruel; I mean who doesn't love that?

The ending that this book lead straight to was kind of depressing, but only for a moment. In the end, what Tiger Lily got was so much more amazing. Peter and Tiger Lily's love story was good - but in the way that a first love story always is. It was sad, and I wanted them to be together, but it just wasn't meant to be. Like I said, Tiger Lily's ending was so much better than it would have been with Peter.

It just fit. All in all, Tiger Lily really was a good read. I enjoyed Tiger Lily & the story of Neverland, and the atmosphere was amazing. But I just... don't know how to say what I want to say?

  1. Ah, this book! I loved it. I actually really want to re-read it at some point even though the ending was a little sad... though I agree that Tiger Lily's ending was so much better without Peter. *sobs*

  4. Megan, I think you said it all just perfectly!! This is a beautiful review and makes me kick myself for having this one on my shelf for so long. Sometimes, I enjoy a darker read, and I don't think I would mind a bit of sad. I want to read it so badly now. Thank you for sharing, love *hugs*

  5. It's official: I'm going to have to reread this. I honestly don't remember anything of it, it's like a blur. But you have me convinced that I'm missing out on it because it sounds spectacular, way better than I remember.

I know what you mean about not having the right words to describe this one! I must have re-started my review for it 10 times, because I just couldn't get it right!!

The atmosphere was definitely one of my favourite parts as well - I loved how Anderson captured the spirit of Neverland, but somehow turned it into something both exciting and dangerous and twisted!

  8. Absolutely! Every time I read something realistic like this, I start thinking about more and more problems in the world.
Do it! I want to see what you think of it!! :D

  10. Elemental Mysteries. Remember I told you about the freebie I read and loved? It's the first of that series :3

  11. Yes, I think I remember... was the freebie called Elemental? Because I have that stuck in my mind (plus the series is called that. LOL)

  12. Nope, the book is called A Hidden Fire.
But you may have Elemental stuck in your head because Storm (one of the books I reviewed on the blog recently) is the first in that series :)

  13. Okay, no I don't remember that one! O.O AM I GOING SENILE?
Hahaha, I bet that's it. I know what Storm is, LOL. :)

  14. Yes? I mean, maybe. You're a bit too young to be going senile, but anything's possible.

  15. Yay! I'm glad that you get it, girly! LOL, that's exactly what I did! There's just too much that I wanted to say, and just no way to really express how I felt!

I LOVED the dangerous and twisted! There's just something wonderful about a beloved child world that's been changed to something great. Thanks for commenting!! :)

  19. I have seen this one around SO much, and I have been putting off reading it. I don't know why. Honestly, I think maybe at first it was the name of the girl. Tiger Lily? It just kind of put me off for some reason, but here lately I've really started liking retellings, which this one isn't really a retelling, more like a prequel, but still it sounds really interesting, and this was a lovely review sweets! I'll definitely be picking this one up from the store one of these days!! :)

  20. Haha, it's the Indian girl from Peter Pan's name - it's always been that. But it is kind of an off-putting name, LOL. I LOVE retellings! And this is a good prequel, honestly. And kind of an afterwards type story - it's really good. THANK YOU! :D I hope you read it soon, because it's freaking amazing!!

  21. I don't remember that! I honestly haven't watched Peter Pan since I was a kid! Plus I have insanely HORRIBLE memory!

  22. Haha, I actually always wanted to be Tiger Lily - that's probably why I remember. And I like Peter Pan - and all old Disney movies, actually. And I have a terrible memory too - so don't worry! You're in good company! :D

  23. Haha I love old Disney movies too, but I haven't watched a lot of them in years! Which is sad, and something I need to remedy soon!! But for real, I can't even remember how long it's been since I watched Peter Pan. IT'S BEEN THAT LONG!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Really?! That is sad! I'm obsessed with animated movies, LOL. YOU NEED TO! SOON! That is a really long time, cuz dang! :P
