Farrah "Digit" Higgins may be going to MIT in the fall, but this L.A. high school genius has left her geek self behind in another school district so she can blend in with the popular crowd at Santa Monica High and actually enjoy her senior year. But when Farrah, the daughter of a UCLA math professor, unknowingly cracks a terrorist group's number sequence, her laid-back senior year gets a lot more interesting. Soon she is personally investigating the case, on the run from terrorists, and faking her own kidnapping-- all while trying to convince a young, hot FBI agent to take her seriously. So much for blending in...
My Thoughts/Review:
I really enjoyed A Girl Named Digit, but there were a few things that were slightly annoying. For one, Farrah/Digit is really smart. So, she thinks that nobody else could possibly be as smart as she is. Perfect score on the math SAT, and all that. She speaks in technical jargon when she trying to explain something, which just really confuses us all. I literally cannot understand all that math. I hate math with a passion.
Other than that, I enjoyed the character of Digit. She has no filter whatsoever, and it makes her normal. She's just trying to blend in, yet she's never actually listened to anything her 'friends' have said. She thinks that she's above them. She really grows as a character throughout this novel, and becomes a really likable character by the end. John was a good character, but he really could have used some more development.
He was likable, cute, and sweet, but he needs more development. There on the run from a terrorist group, and all he can think to do is try and save her so he can get a better job? Also, why is Digit the only one who ever figures out anything. She uncovers every plot, problem, and conspiracy. Step over so someone else can have the spotlight, Digit.
Now I'm feeling bad for my rant about Digit. The story was good. It was interesting, and it certainly didn't let me ever get bored, but I really think that this is just an average read for me.
This Book will be released on....

Great review Megan! This one sounds a bit like The Specialist series by Shannon Greenland, which also had a main character who was a genius (I think she hacked computers?) Anyways, I absolutely loved that series and this one sounds like its right up my alley. I'm definitely going to add it to my TBR =)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've never heard of that series before, is it good? Add to your TBR, people definitely need different views then mine. =)
