Returnable Girl by Pamela Lowell

The kids in this book have some very serious problems. Don't get me wrong, I have problems, but not like theirs. Ronnie is a Headstrong-thinks-she-knows-better-than-you kind of kid. Cat is a very gullible, easy to trick girl, and she needs all the help she can possibly get. Because she is one weird girl. This book is written in the style of a memoir, but I don't think anyone would write this about themselves.

Here's the Blurb:

Abandoned. That's how Ronnie Hartman feels after her mother and Kenny, her mom's good-for-nothing boyfriend, move to Alaska, bringing Ronnie's two younger brothers with them and leaving her behind. Now thirteen years old, Ronnie has been "returned" from multiple foster homes because of her impulsive lying and stealing. Her latest foster mom, Alison, is Ronnie's very last chance. If she doesn't want to end up in some awful residential treatment center. Meanwhile, Ronnie wants more than anything to fit in with the popular crowd, especially with the beautiful (but stuck-up) Paige. But when Ronnie betrays her only friend, a chubby outcast named Cat, she begins a pattern of deception that can only end in disaster. As Ronnie struggles to define herself, an important letter will present her with the most heart-wrenching decision of her life: to accept the woman who wants to adopt her, or to return to the mother who once abandoned her.

I give this Book Two Stars.

Plus by Veronica Chambers

Another Story about a plus model. The Difference? This girl is older, more mature, and I like her better than Celeste from Models Don't Eat Chocolate Cookies. Bee is a very cool, down to earth kind of gal. She has personality, and a huge thirst for life that many characters don't have. I liked Bee and Chela alot. Savannah Hughes is awful though! What made her think she was better than everyone else? And Brian. Oh, Brian. He too was awful. What kind of a guy does something like that, then wants you back. He's obviously so not worth my time, so I shall stop.

Here's the blurb:

The perfect romantic makeover story about an every-girl whose dream comes true . . . Beatrice Wilson is our lovable Cinderella, who just got dumped by her very first boyfriend and put on twenty-five pounds. But then she's discovered as a plus model. In the eyes of pop culture, Bee is Jessica Alba and then some! Now she must vanquish skinny rivals, fend off sleazy photogs, and banish jealous frenemies in her rise to superstardom. All the while, she's torn between her first love and the surprisingly sincere up-and-coming rapper she tutors in calculus. But what's better than finding your prince charming? Finally learning to love yourself!

I will admit, that was not the Blurb that I read. The Blurb I read had a column.
I give this Book Three Stars.
